Today's rant is going to be quick, I'm tired from running around work and nothing can be done about today's topic. The English language sucks. I sent an e-mail to parents the other day and in my attachment is a link to my blog. They were of coursed amused by my typeings as anyone would be (but it was probably more of a parental amusement with a slight giggle). However, since both of them are college professors they felt compelled to proofread my rantings (not a big deal I have never been a good writer).
But this time I decided to, rather then take there markings with grace, lash out at the English language.
U.S. English (bear in mind that England has a different version) It's too confusing I don't know how anybody learns is. My big problem is like sounding words... There Their and They're specifically (I tend to mix them up as you've probably noticed). Who decided back in the day that were were going to have a bunch of words that sound the same but mean completely different things? The same goes with synonyms, I mean honestly, a bunch of different sounding words that mean the same thing for the love of Mike...
Letters aren't consistent in there sounds, and some vowels aren't even always vowels (I'm looking square at your Y). Plus, we lay out our sentences differently then every other language on the planet, what is that about?
So, I am proposing that we trim the fat. In our culture each word needs to have a distinct meaning that way we can get rid of like, half the dictionary. Lets have all letters sound the same way all the time. If we have to make up new letters, so be it. (Heck, the Jews have letters like the "cha" why don't we?) . Let's get to it people, a new language, one that people can learn quickly and efficiently.
