Pennies from heaven?

Know what makes me angry? Pennies

I don't understand the penny, I really don't. Nobody in this country gives any value to the penny if someone drops it they don't bother to pick it up. If someone sees one on the ground (anyone other then me) they just say “eh” and walk on by. They get lost under seats, shelves and furniture tossed on dressers never to be touched again and yet they still get made.

One could argue that since things cost irregular amounts (7 cents etc.) that the penny is vital to our economy but the fact is if stores just adjusted the price properly it would be completely irrelevant and therefore not needed.

Also, I would argue that elimination of the penny would improve our economy, here's how. Every dollar that is printed is (theoretically) backed by gold somewhere in a U.S. Depository since pennies are currency they are backed by gold but since they have such low value in the grand scheme they are viewed as trash. People loose and even throw them away without a second thought. So lets put the gold that backs them to useful money and less will be wasted.

Also the material used to make a penny is rapidly becoming more valuable then the pennies themselves. They already reduced the amount of copper in a penny to almost nothing but even that copper is probably worth more then a cent. Think about it people, it's just another way your tax dollars are being wasted.
